In 1995 Tim played the Scarecrow in a junior production of The Wizard Of Oz opposite his talented young sister Noni who was Dorothy. Nearly 30 years later, Tim returned to Kansas In Prospero Arts production of the same show, this time portraying the roles of Uncle Henry & The Oz guard. The show received rave reviews and Tim’s second act showstopper ‘Merry Old Land Of Oz’ was a highlight. Here’s what the critics said about Tim’s performance.
‘In a supporting role but one that had the audience captivated was Brisbane’s own Tim McCallum who starred as Dorothy’s Uncle Henry. His commanding presence was incredibly compelling, leaving audiences wanting more chances to hear his powerful voice’.
–Courier Mail
‘Tim McCallum gave himself to the part of Dorothy’s Uncle Henry with such tenderness and soul. Tim enlightened the audience with his big grin, southern twang, and genuine care for the character of Dorothy. He also turned on the charm in the Emerald City as the gatekeeper and performed fantastically in ‘The merry ole land of oz.’ It was beautiful to see how inclusive Prospero Arts is with all walks of life including Tim by catering for his disability on stage, which didn’t affect his roles and the magic of the story whatsoever, it was heartwarming to witness.’
